orphaned-baby-blackbird

This baby hatchling fell from a height of over 25 feet from the nest and survived the fall.. This tiny little blackbird through many efforts is being given a chance to live. It appears the little blackbird has been abandoned by the parents. He is weak but has a lot of fight. Unable to return the baby to the nest I am now feeding the baby. He is getting stronger. Hopefully during the day the parents will return to take care of the baby blackblird cause I place him under the tree where the nest is.. If the parents won't feed the baby then I do. A little bird like this requires to be fed every 30 to 45 minutes. Every effort will be made to help what appears to be an orphan. Feel free to ask any questions about how to help birds. Jaxs has handled birds all of his life. He is a volunteer wildlife rescuer. He specializes in handling birds.

Veterans Memorial Island

Veteran's Memorial Island is located in Vero Beach Fl. When you walk out onto the island there is a marker. That marker reads: River travel was vital to the early human activity of Florida and the Indian River area. In the early 1900's, efforts began to dredge the Indian River. By the 1930's, the U.S. Corps of Engineers routinely maintained this channel called the Intracoastal Waterway. After World War II the channel was once again slated for dredging and Alex MacWilliam, Sr., a veteran and member of the Florida Legislature, proposed a special project and persuaded the federal government to realign the existing Vero Beach channel to make way for a modern drawbridge (the first Merrill P. Barber Bridge) and to create a memorial island with the surplus dredging material. Lest We Forget are the words used in the dedication of this island on May 3, 1964. This one man and hundreds of citizens in Indian River County did not forget and 17 years later created Veterans Memorial Island Sanctuary. The Vero Beach Beautification Society and the Garden Club coordinated the beautification of the property. Today the Stars and Stripes wave proudly over this Island Sanctuary which can be seen from the deep channel of the Intracoastal Waterway and the two modern bridges now spanning the Indian River.

A Florida Heritage Site
Sponsored By The Indian River County Historical Society
The Veterans Memorial Island Sanctuary Advisory Committee
And The Florida Department Of State.

On Memorial Day and Veteran's Day members of the community gather on this island to honor the men and women who serve in the military and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom's we enjoy today.

Veterans Memorial Island Sanctuary is a historical site. Many who visit find it very beautiful. There is a walking trail around the island. There are benches for you to sit on and just take in the gorgeous view of the Indian River.

Some people fish from her shores. Nearby are bathroom facilities, boat ramp, walking trails, tennis courts, Art Museum, and Riverside Theater.

Kim and Jaxs say "Thank You to the men and women who serve and have served in the military to preserve the freedoms we enjoy today"

Cool Trees

Trees are so cool. They provide us with shade on a hot sunny day. Encourage us to climb their branches.

Tree's provide homes for the birds and squirrels that we so dearly love to watch as they go about their daily routines.

Tree's spark the imagination within each of us. Lovers carve their initials into their trunks. Kids enjoy a tire swing to swing on.

Tree's provide us with the materials to build our homes and the very paper we write on.

Jaxs and Kim love tree's that have survived time and weather. How they have grown into cool shapes. Seeing these old tree's one can't help to wonder or imagine the things that old tree must have survived to be the cool tree that it is today.

Jaxs and Kim hope you enjoy these photo's of cool trees.

Birds of all kinds

Jaxs and Kim bring you closer look at the beauty of birds that play such an important role in our lives.

When you wake in the morning, to hear the pleasant sounds of their songs, bringing praise to the new morning light.

Jaxs started as a young child rescuing birds. His first experience was at the age of five. A Red bellied Woodpecker fledgling had fallen from the nest. Jaxs found the little bird and picked it up. He named it Woody Woodpecker. Jaxs had to let the little bird go so the parents could take care of it. From that day on Jaxs has fascination and way with birds. Through the years he has rescued birds in need. That love for birds and wildlife can be seen in the photo gallery Birds of all Kinds. If you have any questions Jaxs will be more than happy to answer them.

Kim's Crafts and Cross Stitch

Kim of Creative Images by Jaxs and kim does beautiful works of cross stitch.

Kim leaned cross stitch at an early age in her life. Cross stitch and other crafty things she does, helped her to survive a horrible childhood of emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Not only did she deal with those horrors but she also had seizures and was diagnosed with Epilepsy. Amazingly Kim is a survivor and no longer suffers from the horrors of abuse.

To celebrate life and being a survivor Kim's Crafts is dedicated to Kim and other survivors of domestic violence and abuse.
